10th anniversary of his death. SACD hybrid disc of concertos by Ligeti, a composer who promoted avant-garde music. Ligeti studied at the Budapest Conservatory under Veresh and others. After the Hungarian uprising in 1956, Ligeti went into exile and settled permanently in Vienna. He is known as one of the composers who promoted avant-garde music while also teaching at the Darmstadt Summer School and at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. The Cello Concerto, composed in 1966, between Ligeti's eponymous "Atmosphère" and his masterpiece "Lontano," which is the culmination of his sound group composition, is one of the most representative cello concertos of the 20th century, with waves of sound and melody coming and going. The album commemorates the 10-year anniversary of his death in 2016. King International
