The sixth collection of secular cantatas by the BCJ includes \"More Light, O Duchess,\" BWV 198, \"Strike, O Wishful Hourly Bells,\" BWV 53, and \"Psalm 51,\" BWV 1083. The \"Duchesse, et una gloriae\" BWV 198 is a memorial for Christiane Eberhardine, wife of the Elector of Saxony Augustus I. Bach himself is said to have played the bass part and conducted the piece. It was later adapted into the lost \"Mark Passion,\" BWV 247, and the Funeral Music for the Marquis of Leopold, BWV 244a. The \"Strike, O bells of time,\" BWV 53, is a forgery, and the true composer is thought to be Georg Melchior Hoffmann. It is a funeral work for solo alto voice. The last recording, Bach's \"Psalm 51\" (original: Pergolesi's \"Stabat Mater\"), was recorded by BCJ in September 2005 as a session recording, but remained unreleased.This was a bonus disc for the complete limited edition box of Church Cantatas (KKC8501\/Discontinued), released in July 2014, and is now available on SACD hybrid disc.
