A delightful performance by Dan Laurin! The father of Swedish music, Ruhmann's second SACD hybrid recording of his Sonatas for Flute and Passing Bass. Paradiso Musicale presents a collection of chamber works by Johan Helmich Ruhmann. The second collection of flute (recorder) sonatas, with Dan Laughlin as soloist, includes Sonatas Nos. 6 through 12. Luhrmann was born in Stockholm in 1694. He served as court music director and was known in Scandinavia as "the father of Swedish music" and "the Swedish Handel," and was a major figure in 18th century Swedish music. Ruhlmann studied in London and was trained by Handel in the style of Italian Baroque music. Dan Laughlin's superb technique allows the depth of Luhrmann's works to come through in this performance.
