Since our goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the interpretive possibilities for these works, this recording is based on a thorough study of the extant sources and authentic performance practices. “We have selected and performed on instruments that are ‘authentic’ based on the original sources,” they state, and the performances are indeed based on genuine, authentic interpretations.
