Yet another of Sibelius’s hidden gems has seen the light of day.\n\nA truly remarkable and thorough project, as only BIS could deliver. While this collection brings together orchestral works that include vocal music, what makes it special is that all the pieces are presented in versions rarely heard. Seven of the ten tracks are world premiere recordings. Among them, the 1894 version of “The Lover” for tenor, male chorus, and string orchestra is simply exquisite. It feels as fresh as if you were hearing it for the very first time.
