This album is an attempt to recreate the beginnings of the history of European solo lute music. It is believed that the master musician known at the time as the “Blind German” was the organist Konrad Paumann; however, since no sheet music survives, La Rotta has reconstructed the works based on Paumann’s organ pieces and the Wolfenbüttel tablature discovered in 2011.
