Personal Best was written for Trio Accant. This ensemble features a unique lineup: Nicholas Hodges on piano, Markus Weiss on saxophone, and Christian Diastain on percussion. Through thorough collaboration between composer and performers, this work blurs the boundaries between “composition, performance, and introspection.” Serious Songs was created based on Brahms’s Four Serious Songs. Buene performs as a singer alongside Trio Accant, once again demonstrating “how fragile art music can be” while blurring the boundaries between real life and the performing arts.
