The band has earned the support of a wide audience with a diverse program that extends beyond military marches and classical music to include jazz, pop, rock, and contemporary music. In 2008, the band was awarded “Performer of the Year” by the Norwegian Composers’ Association.\nIts repertoire includes not only works by Norwegian composers but also well-known classics by composers such as John Philip Sousa and Kenneth Alford. In particular, the commemorative march commissioned from Svein Henrik Giske [1973–] in 2014 to mark the band’s anniversary is a refreshing and majestic piece that evokes images of Norway’s vast landscapes. The cohesive, well-structured performance—combined with its wide range of dynamics and expression—is definitely worth a listen!
