Description:

Toru Takemitsu's "In the Woods" was composed on his sickbed and is said to be the last work he completed. Wainscott Pond" was inspired by a painting by Cornelia Foss depicting the Long Island landscape. Rosedale" is titled after Rosedale Woods, a quiet residential area in Toronto. Muir Woods," a suburb of San Francisco, where giant sequoia trees teach us about human frailty. Each of the "Three Pieces" is dedicated to John Williams, Kiyoshi Shomura, and Julian Bream. Peteris Vasks is known for his works that dynamically combine elements of his native Latvia's folk music with the language of contemporary music. The "Sonata of Solitude" was composed in 1990, before his violin concerto "Distant Light" made him internationally famous. It is in three movements, "Pensieroso," "Risoluto," and "Condolore," and has a deeply religious undertone. Georg Schmitz is a German composer and guitarist.He studied at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz and the Johannes Gutenberg University, and has participated several times in the IRCAM summer academy in Paris, where he founded the International Guitar Academy Koblenz in 2007. The "Last Encore" is a short four-movement work in "Andante", "Bewegt" (Move fast), "Furioso" (Furiously), and "Gesungen" (Sung). Jörn Pödeschen was in charge of the production. The recording session took place at the Rommedalen Church in Baalm. Although born from very personal feelings, this album speaks not only to those who know "Grief" but also to all music lovers. Born in Stavanger, Norway, first prize winner of the 2017 Antwerp International Guitar Competition, she has studied at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland with Alan Neave since 2013 and at the Prince Klaus Conservatory in Groningen, the Netherlands with Sabrina Vlaskaric since 2014, She received her Bachelor's degree in 2017.She studied at the Norwegian National College of Music in the "Artist Diploma" class of Erik Stenstavol and Ott Tronen, and at the age of 24 was appointed professor at the Prince Krause School of Music.
