She has also been recognized by world-class artists such as Daniel Barenboim and Anne-Sophie Mutter, and is a rising star currently at a pivotal juncture in her musical career.\n\nThis album features two masterpieces of cello concertos composed in the 19th century: “Variations on a Rococo Theme,” composed for Wilhelm Fitzenhagen, a close friend of Tchaikovsky. Although Fitzenhagen made bold revisions to the original score for the premiere, the work was restored to its original form through scientific and technical means in 1955, and performances based on the original version are now the norm. Based on a theme written in the Rococo style popular in the mid-18th century, the piece showcases the cello’s lyrical quality and virtuosity, allowing listeners to fully enjoy Sandra Reed Haga’s dynamic performance. Also featured is Dvořák’s masterpiece, the Cello Concerto, inspired by folk songs from his native Bohemia and African-American spirituals, in which he lavishly displays beautiful melodies.
