Perhaps one of the most exciting and anticipated projects in the world of heavy instrumental music is the Parlor Greens, a fresh organ trio from Coal Mine Records. Tim Carman (GA-20) on drums, Jimmy James (True Loves, formerly of the Delvon Lamar Organ Trio) on guitar, and Adam Scone (Scone Cash Players, The Sugarman 3) on organ. Adam Skorn is probably the most tasteful organist on the planet, and watching him play is truly like watching a master at work. He is a veteran of the soul revival scene and has participated in many recording sessions since Daptone's inception, but he has also learned from some of the legends of soul jazz, Melvin Sparks and the Turbanator himself, Dr. Lonnie Smith. Jimmy James needs no introduction to many, as he has performed all over the world with instrumental groups The True Loves and the Delvon Lamar Organ Trio.Perhaps the most dangerous right-hand man in all of soul music, his signature funky approach is a feat most musicians could only dream of. Having toured the world with the blues group GA-20, Tim Carman has the expertise in the world of blues~shuffle, with steady, heavy pockets, and funkiness beyond compare. Within the first ten minutes of everyone being together, the song "West Memphis" was written and recorded. And over the next three days, these three masters conducted a beautiful, soulful symphony and taped it verbatim, as natural and fun as three old friends getting together for the first time in ages, but this was the first time they had written and performed a piece together. It was magic. Here is the result of that session.
