This work combines pieces Sidoroff has composed previously with new compositions based on texts from the 2000 Swedish translation of the Bible and translations created by a working group led by Father Mikael Sundkvist. In keeping with his recent style, Sidoroff composed the work with an emphasis on the “Orthodox spirit.” It is the only *Vigil* sung entirely in Swedish.\nSidrov studied conducting, voice, and oboe at the Helsinki Polytechnic and is active as a conductor of the Helsinki Cathedral Choir, Stadia Opera, and chamber ensembles. As a composer, he has worked on Orthodox church music, choral works, and art songs based on the poetry of Eino Leino.
