Description:

Resonance Records finally releases the official release of the Bill Evans Trio's 1973 live recording in Buenos Aires! Eddie Gomez (b) and Marty Morrell (ds) join the trio, and the Japanese edition includes a complete translation of the original booklet! Resonance Records presents two live recordings of the Bill Evans Trio's rare performances in Argentina, recorded at Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires on June 24, 1973. This is the first official release with the cooperation of the Bill Evans Estate. The trio of Bill Evans (p), Eddie Gomez (b), and Marty Morrell (ds) performed the concert, which was remastered from the original tape reel (broadcast) of the concert. 1973 was also the year the three musicians made their first visit to Japan, playing 11 concerts throughout Japan. The live performance at Tokyo Postal Savings Hall is on sale. The songs on this album are also a parade of Evans' favorite songs.Eddie Gomez's arco solo in "MyRomance" and Marty Morrell's drum solo are also featured in abundance, giving the entire song a dynamic feel that only a live performance can provide. Of course, Evans' playing is also in top form. The booklet includes rare photos from the actual concert, essays by American author/journalist Mark Myers and Argentinean author Claudio Parisi, and recent interviews with Eddie Gomez, Marty Morrell, pianist Richie Baillyak, and more. The soundtrack is a monaural recording. Although the recording is in mono, it has been remastered from the original master tapes, and the thick, realistic sound of the three musicians has been captured beautifully. The CD of "Inner Spirit: The 1979 Concert at the Teatro General San Martin, Buenos Aires," which was recorded in 1979 with Mark Johnson (b) and Joe LaBarbera (ds), was also released at the same time. It is fun to compare the two albums.
