Johanna Zumer's debut album "Schumann Kaleidoskop" was applauded by both classical and jazz pianists. Her long-awaited second album, which deepens her musicality, is now available. Johanna Zumer was born in 1995 in Plauen, Saxony, and currently lives and works in Berlin. With a foundation in classical music, Zumer attended music school and participated in jazz ensembles. He studied at the Higher School of Music in Dresden and participated for two years in BuJazzO, a German youth jazz orchestra of top-level young musicians. In Dresden, he met legendary artist Gunter "Baby" Sommer, who paved the way for him. At first it was very difficult to find a way to approach classical music from pop music, but Sommer realized that it was important to give it a try. He performed many of his compositions publicly as well. Her improvisational approach to playing on her previous album, Schumann Kaleidoskop, won praise from all quarters, including star classical pianists Igor Levitt and Malakov Kowalski and jazz's Joachim Kühn. In this work, she further enhances her exceptional artistry and deepens the way she recounts the masterpieces of classical music through improvisation. It covers a wide range of music, from Bach, Schubert, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, and Ravel to Montpauw, Ligeti, and Scriabin. For this album, the recording was done in two sessions, and she describes the process as follows. In the first session, I went into the studio with everything meticulously prepared, but it didn't have the inspiration or flow that it should have. So in the second studio session, I played the program twice through, in front of a small audience in a more concert-like atmosphere, without interruptions, cuts, or analysis. The feeling that I was playing for an audience did something for me."

Tracklisting:

.Bach
.Schubert
.Ligeti
.Mompou
.Beethoven
.Ravel
.Grieg
.Scriabin
.Tchaikovsky
