A one-of-a-kind figure who, throughout his life, continually incorporated new styles to create works that transcended genres, inspiring the music scene with his overwhelming influence—the greatest musician of the 20th century marks the 100th anniversary of his birth this year. To honor his innovation and genius, and to celebrate this momentous 100th anniversary, his studio albums and soundtracks are now being revived! This is the 2-LP vinyl edition of the groundbreaking album RUBBERBAND, released in 2019 as a “miraculous” album—one that, despite being recorded in 1985, remained unreleased for over 30 years and was passed down among fans as a “phantom” work! The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miles Davis, a one-of-a-kind figure hailed as the “Emperor of Jazz.” Having exerted a profound influence not only on the history of jazz but on the evolution of music itself, he consistently incorporated new styles into his sound throughout his life, continuously creating works that transcended genres. Born in 1926, he continued to inspire and exert an overwhelming influence on the music scene with his extraordinary innovation and genius; he is truly one of the 20th century’s most representative musicians and an iconic figure who symbolizes culture itself. This year, as we mark the centennial of his birth, various releases spanning multiple labels are being released to honor his legacy and celebrate his innovation and genius. Recently, details were announced regarding vinyl reissues of DOO-BOP and LIVE AT MONTREUX, originally released in 1992 after Miles’s passing; this time, a collection of works released by Warner Records (then Warner Bros. Records)—where he was signed from 1985 to 1991, a period that could be described as his final years—including studio albums, soundtracks, and greatest-hits compilations, will be reissued on vinyl and CD. Among the releases are TUTU (1986)—his first release after signing with Warner Records and a landmark work in Miles’s career—and MUSIC FROM SIESTA (1987), which, following his previous album, was created in collaboration with Marcus Miller and Music from Siesta (released in 1987), which centers on the music he composed for the film Siesta, directed by Mary Lambert; Amandla (released in 1989), Miles’s final masterpiece, in which he broke new ground by bringing together a group of up-and-coming young musicians led by Marcus Miller; DINGO: SELECTION FROM THE MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK, a soundtrack album for a film in which he also appeared as an actor and which marked his long-awaited collaboration with Michel Legrand; the 2007 best-of album The Very Best of Warner Bros. Sessions 1985–1991, and Rubberband, a long-unreleased, treasured album recorded in 1985 and finally released in 2019—these six works. Note that since 『RUBBERBAND』 is being reissued exclusively as a 2-LP vinyl set this time, a total of five reissued CDs and six reissued vinyl albums will be released all at once.
