Only Real is the project of Niall Galvin, a South London native who was influenced by his father's love of Neil Young, Van Morrison, and Jackson Brown, and his mother's love of The Beach Boys. Only Real is the project of Niall Galvin, a South Londoner whose musical influences include his father's love of Neil Young, Van Morrison and Jackson Brown, and his mother's love of The Beach Boys, but he was also drawn to the hip-hop and guitar music that came out of street culture, such as skateboarding. The name of the project came from a friend of Niall's who immediately liked it and used it as the name of the project. The album was recorded over a year in Atlanta (w/ Ben Allen) and Streatham (w/ Dan Carey) in South London.
