She rose to stardom after winning second prize at the Robert Schumann International Competition held in Zwickau, Germany, in 1974, and at the International Chopin Piano Competition the following year in 1975; her career as one of today’s foremost Chopin interpreters has been remarkable. Since her first visit to Japan in 1979, Yoffe has returned frequently; her Japan tour last May (2009) was a resounding success, and she is scheduled to return again in 2010.
