Pobłotzka Plays Rare Original Instruments Linked to the Composer!\n\nThe second volume of art songs by Stanisław Moniuszko, the “Father of Polish Opera”!\nOlga Pashetsunik, a Ukrainian-born soprano active in Poland, sings accompanied by Eva Pobłotzka on a period piano!\nA period piano linked to Moniuszko: a Klar \u0026amp; Seidler from 1846!\n\nStanisław Moniuszko (1819–1872), the “Father of Polish Opera,” is a composer the National Chopin Institute (NIFC) is working to reevaluate and revive; he stands alongside Chopin as a leading figure of the Polish Romantic school. The NIFC had previously released a song collection (NIFCCD112) featuring Mariusz Godlewski (baritone), and now a new song collection sung by soprano Olga Paszecznyk has been released.\nPaszczunyk was born into a family of Polish descent in Riwne (Rivne), Ukraine, and honed her skills at the Kyiv Conservatory and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, among other institutions. After making her debut at the Warsaw Chamber Opera while still a student, she has since performed leading roles at many opera houses, including those in Paris, Bavaria, Flanders, Geneva, and the Rhine, among many others. She has also toured with her sister, pianist Natalia Paszecznyk, and has recorded approximately 50 CDs and DVDs (including a collection of Chopin songs released by NIFC: NIFCCD027).\n\nAnother highlight of this album is the luxurious setting provided by Eva Pobłocka—one of Poland’s leading contemporary pianists, who placed in the 10th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1980 and won the Mazurka Prize—accompanying on a period piano from that era. The piano was manufactured around 1846 by Krall \u0026amp; Seidler, a Warsaw-based piano workshop that operated from around 1830 to 1896 and was highly regarded as the “Pleyel of Poland.” It is a rare original instrument bearing the serial number “3043,” which Moniuszko gave to his daughter and was later passed down to his granddaughter (and which he likely played himself).
