Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860–1941) was a preeminent Polish composer and pianist in the post-Chopin era; a great Polish figure who also made significant contributions as an editor of Chopin’s scores and as a politician who served as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The highlight of this album is the use of a 1925 Steinway piano said to have belonged to Paderewski. Furthermore, the NIFC’s new series, “Resonance,” explores the reactions to Chopin’s music—evoking concepts such as response, reverberation, and resonance.
