Description:
A jazz funk/crossover band formed in 1973 by Petr Klapka (b) and his wife Zdena Adamova (vo), a former C&K vocalist, who were active in the former Czechoslovakian jazz scene. The band's debut album, released on Supraphon in 1978, has been newly remastered and reissued with additional bonus tracks by GAD Records in Poland in 2009! The groovy rhythms of the album are tinged with funk, with sharp cutting/wah guitar, heavy brass section with sax/trumpet/trombone, and even flute/violin/strings, while the electric piano & synth keys, hard bass, and bouncy drums intertwine with each other to create a strong funk tone. /The arrangement is a typical jazz-funk/jazz-rock sound that has passed through Miles Davis, MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, BRAND X, etc. The groove of the rhythm is funk-tinged.On the other hand, the ethno-like melody of the theme part with a distinctive Czech accent, which is especially noticeable on "Oci Nevidomych Zrcadel," and Zedna's ethereal-sounding scatting make this album even more unique. The combination of the aforementioned ethno/experimentality and the advanced and stylish sound-making with a worldwide perspective of a Czech band from this period is truly unique and a masterpiece representing the Czech jazz-rock scene! The master was newly remastered in 2009. Bonus tracks include five live tracks from the '75/'76 radio broadcasts, which are available for the first time on this release.
