Volume 6 features works by Scott Joplin, the “King of Ragtime.”\nAt the turn of the 20th century, when many ragtime musicians were active, Scott Joplin elevated the genre to the realm of “art” and left his mark on American music history. Born in Texas shortly after the Civil War to a former slave father and a free woman mother, he developed his musical talent after moving to Texarkana. He received formal music education from a teacher of Czech-Jewish descent and achieved success with \"Maple Leaf Rag,\" which he composed in St. Louis, where he lived from 1900 onward. He composed numerous ragtime pieces over the course of about 15 years. His most famous work is “The Entertainer” (1902). It was used as the theme song for the 1973 film “The Sting,” became a huge hit, and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1974.\nOn this album, Ricardo performs 21 of Joplin’s rags, as well as Bill Evans’ “Peace Piece.”\nTokyo M Plus\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Danacord","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52699440447777,"sku":"5709499101001","price":3411.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/5709499101001.jpg?v=1779022651","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/5709499101001","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
