At the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in 2015, he won “overwhelming popularity with the audience” thanks to his unique interpretations and style. Even when he failed to place in the competition, he sparked much debate and has garnered international attention as an “unconventional genius.” His talent was recognized by Gidon Kremer, and he became the first-ever resident guest artist of Kremerata Baltica. In the fall of 2025, he will make his major-label debut on Deutsche Grammophon (DG) with a collection of works by Arvo Pärt. He is known for his unique rubato, unbound by tradition, and his crystal-clear tone. He plays the Yamaha CFX, Yamaha’s flagship model. As a personal touch, he uses a custom piano bench designed by the Italian company Fazioli.\n\n[Recording]\n◆CD 1 (Chopin) was recorded on January 22–23, 2016; CD 2 (Rachmaninoff) was recorded on June 26, 2017, and November 30, 2018.
