Her vision is fully reflected in this selection, which, unlike her previous albums featuring short pieces, consists entirely of substantial works, each one a centerpiece in its own right.\nThe program features Schubert’s “Wanderer” Fantasy, themed around “nature” and “hometown”—concepts evoked by the earth—as well as Janáček’s sonata “October 1, 1905: On the Street,” Chopin’s “Sonata No. 3,” and Dai Fujikura’s “Akiko’s Diary”—said to be based on the diary of a young girl who lost her life to the aftereffects of radiation from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
