The other two pieces were inspired by this work by Corigliano: Karavassilis’s “Saudade,” which incorporates ancient Greek folk songs, and Siegel’s “Chaconne,” in which a slow melody is developed through variations. Both were composed for Bansō, who also contributed ideas during the compositional process.
