He initially studied composition with Taneyev and later studied under Sergei Vashilenko at the Moscow Conservatory. Although he composed some orchestral works, the majority of his output consists of piano pieces and art songs with piano accompaniment. His distinctive style, which draws on the best elements of both Scriabin and Metner and embodies a late-Romantic sensibility, is particularly captivating. He composed a total of 14 piano sonatas. This recording focuses on his mid-period Piano Sonata No. 8 and includes short pieces from various periods. We invite you to enjoy these forgotten works of Russian pianism.
Naxos Japan

Tracklisting:

1.Ballade, Op. 49
2.4 Narratives, Op. 48 - No. 1.
