Description:

James Ellis Ford, the producer behind Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, and Depeche Mode, has signed a contract with Warp! The first solo album of his career has been released! James Ellis Ford, who has produced for major artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Foals, Gorillaz, and Kylie Minogue, and is also known as a member of Simian Mobile Disco, has signed a contract with Warp and released his first solo album "Warp". James Ellis Ford, known for his work producing for artists and as a member of Simian Mobile Disco, has signed with Warp and released his debut solo album, "The Hum"! Composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, James Ford has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, but has always focused on the success of their projects, not on himself. He has also worked with Simian Mobile. He is also one half of Simian Mobile Disco, and his role alongside longtime creative partner Jas Shaw often seems to be geared more toward collective rather than individual goals. The same is true as a touring member of The Last Shadow Puppets. But for the first time, with his debut solo album, "The Hum," he is about to take center stage himself. It dares to avoid the practice of bringing in the big-name artists who have been involved in the past and turning it into a media-pleasing pop album. Rather, this album is a tribute to the soft but strange British pop music of Brian Eno and Robert Wyatt, and a love letter to the Palestinian roots of his wife and son. It is a work that explores the pastoral power of Canterbury progressive music while gleaning knowledge from the dynamics of contemporary hip-hop. It is also a radiophonic voyage into an unknown universe and a successful experiment in writing classic anthems that stick with you through the ages. In this work, "The Hum," he plays everything live, without any sequencers, soft synths, or DAWs. By recording the first or second performance directly to tape, the music has a lively immediacy.
