In particular, his long tenure as Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra (1946-1970) elevated the ensemble to the status of one of the world's finest ensembles. The \"Great\" was one of Sell's last recordings with his hand-picked Cleveland Orchestra, and the last so-called \"national\" recording for the Hungarian-born conductor. In this 1970 recording, we hear more of the demanding music of yesteryear by Sell, who built the work up through a series of musical and rhythmic repetitions, and through the tempi and rigorous ensemble.This masterpiece will be produced in limited quantities as a 180g analog LP version from the original master tapes, using 24bit\/192kHz remastered sound sources at Art \u0026amp; Son Studio in 2019!
