Recorded in the Iranian city of Mashhad, this work features the classical and folk music of Afghanistan and its musicians, who were forced to flee their country due to the persecution of the Taliban. Located in the eastern part of the Khorasan region, which straddles northwestern Afghanistan, northeastern Iran, and southern Turkmenistan, Herat is an important trading post linking Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and Western Asia. It features performances by the most important musical families of the region, including Kabuli ghazal by Asef Habibi, Afghan classical vocal music by Jawad Tabesh, rhubarb performances by Vahid Delahang, and Herati music by Nasim Khushnawaz. Notably, it also includes a folk song composed by the famous singer Ustad Amir Mohammad and sung by his son, Aziz Ahmad Amiri. The performance is performed with great skill and a will that goes far beyond creation, giving you goosebumps.
