The chaos is too much! The Friar and the Rogue\" is how Poulenc referred to the duality of his character. The fifth disc of François-Xavier Lot's favorite disciple, Leo Walinski and Les Metaboles is a choral work by Poulenc and Bernard Cavanagh (1951-). Poulenc takes on the secular cantata \"Snowy Evening\" on a poem by Éluard and the four motets for religious contrition, \"Praise God.\" The generous volume of his voice allows the audience to enjoy his expressive sound. The \"Ordinary Day Mass\" by Cavanagh, on the other hand, features the instrumental ensemble \"Multilaterale\" to create an intense sound world. The Ordinary Mass was composed in 1993-4 and has been revised for this recording. The lyrics, which are based on liturgical texts, are quite silly, and the three accordions, positif organ, various percussion instruments, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, horn and tuba improvise and create a chaotic situation. It is a truly \"rogue\" religious piece that can be enjoyed audibly even if you are not a religious person.
