The unique title "Brass on the Roof" is of course a reference to Milhaud's "Violinist on the Roof". Boris Vian, who composed the commissioned work for this quintet, gave us the idea for the title. In this album, we present works by Poulenc, Milhaud, Satie, and others that express the humor and irony typical of the French of the time, but from a new perspective with a brass quintet.
