New recording of the epic Mass Solemnis by the genius Alessandro de Marchi! Leopold Mozart is known as \"Mozart's father,\" and much has been said about his passion for education. However, it must be said that Leopold's works have been overshadowed by his son Wolfgang. For a long time, the wonderful \"Missa solemnis\" recorded here was considered to be the work of his son Wolfgang. The work was recorded more than 30 years ago, but is now out of print. Conductor Alessandro De Marchi (b. 1962), a native of Italy, is known for his excellent performances of oratorios and operas, especially from the Baroque period, and since 2010 he has led the Innsbruck Festival of Old Music, succeeding Jacobs as the festival's conductor. The orchestra is the wonderful Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic from Augsburg, Leopold's hometown. The vocal ensemble by Germany's Das Vokalprojekt is also soft and beautiful.
