Coetzfeldt, who is currently recording the complete Monteverdi madrigals for Brilliant Classics, felt the need to reproduce the sound of that organ and began exploring the possibilities of achieving it. Relying on a Dutch music foundation and in consultation with organist Peter van Dijk, and with the help of the Dutch organ production company Kropp, the idea of restoring an organ suitable for Italian music circa 1600 gradually took shape. Without an organ or blueprints from the period, the team created wooden pipes based on records from the period and completed a magnificent organ with an open shape, hand-operated \"bellows,\" multiple stops, and other features that bring the organ closer to the full scope of the period. The new organ has been used in works by Frescobaldi and Florence, and sounds wonderful as a solo instrument.
