This rising 19-year-old presents his supreme debut album, dedicated to “Paris,” the city that changed his life\n\nKim Se-hyun, the 19-year-old pianist who won first prize by unanimous decision and the Audience Prize at the 2025 Long-Thibaud International Competition, has signed an exclusive recording contract with Warner Classics.\nBorn in 2007, he studied the fundamentals in South Korea before moving to the United States. He is currently enrolled in a joint degree program at Harvard University and the New England Conservatory, where he studies under Dan Tai Son and others. He has won numerous awards, including first prize in the Young Artists Division at the Cleveland International Piano Competition. Since his victory at the Long-Thibaud Competition, he has been invited to perform at “Le Concert de Paris” in front of the Eiffel Tower and at music festivals in Switzerland, among other events, and is gaining recognition as a “great performer” throughout Europe.\n\nKim Se-hyun’s debut recording serves as a tribute to “Paris”—the first European city where he performed and the home of his new record label. “That is the place where my life changed,” he says. The program is dedicated to the solo piano works of Gabriel Fauré and Frédéric Chopin—two iconic figures in the history of the City of Light (Paris) who helped shape the innovative musical landscape from the 19th century through the early 20th century. While Chopin has long been a fixture in this young pianist’s repertoire, his interest in Fauré is more recent, having been sparked while he was preparing for his performance in Paris. He praises the captivating “charm and delicacy” of Fauré’s music, contrasting it with the “poetry and drama” of Chopin, his Romantic predecessor, which strikes a chord in the listener’s heart. The program includes Chopin’s *Etudes, Op. 25* and his most beloved *Nocturne No. 8*. From Fauré’s early repertoire, the album includes “Barcarolle No. 1,” “Valse-Caprice No. 1,” “Impromptu No. 2,” and, from the song cycle *Three Melodies*, his own arrangement of the masterpiece “Après un rêve,” originally written for voice and piano. The album concludes with the dreamy song “April in Paris” by French singer-songwriter Charles Trenet.\nWarner Music Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Warner Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53082769096993,"sku":"5026854783130","price":2797.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/5026854783130.jpg?v=1785152946","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/5026854783130","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
