He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 and released his latest album "Danse Macabre" in 2023. He is an active artist who continues to be active today. The best album "GREATEST" released in 1998, which compiles hit songs from his debut album "DURAN DURAN" to the album "MEDAZZALAND" released in 1997, is now available in a new edition to coincide with his EU tour to be held this June! The new release will come in two forms: a white analog disc featuring an image of the album's artwork, and a CD, both in new packaging with the word "GREATEST" embossed on the cover. Formed in 1978 in Birmingham, central England, Duran Duran sparked the New Romantic movement of the 1980s and became a band that represented that movement. The band was a hit during the MTV boom of the time, and their good looks and the convincing stylishness of their art school-educated members won them a large fan following not only in their native England, but also in Japan. The band's name is based on the villain "Dr. Durand-Durand" who appears in the 1968 science fiction film "Barbarella" starring Jane Fonda. The first album, "Duran Duran," reached No. 3 on the U.K. album chart. Subsequent singles such as "Gravure no Bishojo" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" became hits, and the second album "Rio" was released in 1982. After touring North America, the album was a big hit in the U.S., and their popularity became worldwide. 83 saw the release of their third album, "Seven & the Racked Tiger" (#1 in the U.K. and #8 in the U.S.), and in 1984 the single "The Reflex" became their first No. 1 single on the U.S. singles chart (and #1 in the U.K.). With these albums, they defined the sound and style of an era and a generation, and their numerous single hits swept the charts in the U.K., U.S., and around the world, becoming the soundtrack to the lives of millions of fans.In this way, Duran Duran has risen to the forefront of the international music scene and is widely recognized as one of the most influential cultural icons of all time.
