They then released their second album, *American Garage* (original title: *American Garage*), in 1979, followed by *Offramp* (original title: *Offramp*) in 1982.\n\n\"Offramp,\" which marked a new milestone for the Pat Metheny Group, won the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Fusion Performance and, despite being a jazz album, reached No. 50 on the US album charts. The band toured in 1981, prior to the album’s release, featuring songs from this new album, and their Florida performance was recorded for radio broadcast. This album is a live recording of that broadcast.\n\nThey performed many intriguing songs, including “Better Days Ahead” (later included on PMG’s 1989 release *Letter From Home*) and “It’s For You” (later covered by Akiko Yano on *WELCOME BACK*).
