Forty years ago, Brother Noland cut \"COCONUT GIRL\" on 7\" from his 1983 LP \"PACIFIC BAD BOY\" and it became Hawaii's first Jamaican crossover hit. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this song in Hawaiian music history, Brother Noland re-recorded a 2023 version of \"COCONUT GIRL\". This work, which maintains the reggae rhythm while incorporating lovers' lyrics and elements of soul and AOR, is a highly accomplished piece of pop reggae, and one that must be appreciated because it is current. Highly recommended.
