Formed in 1972 by Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, Terry Chambers, and Barry Andrews, XTC signed with Virgin Records in 1977 and became popular for their unique pop sound in the New Wave movement of the time. In 1979, Dave Gregory joined the group following the departure of Barry Andrews, and in 1982, Terry Chambers left the group to form the three-piece XTC. 1986's "Skylarking," produced by Todd Rundgren, was an international hit. However, the band is now virtually inactive, with only Andy Partridge remaining. Influenced by the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and psychedelic rock, XTC's sound is full of originality and has greatly influenced Japanese musicians. In August 1979, with the release of "Drums And Wires", the band went on its first world tour.The July 20 show in Sydney, Australia was recorded and broadcast by a local FM station for promotion. This live album contains the broadcasted material, excluding the encore. The setlist consists of songs from the 1st and 2nd albums, including newer material, and conveys the charm of the early XTC, allowing the audience to experience a superb live performance. Includes 5 additional bonus tracks from the London show in September of the same year.
