After the breakup of Blind Faith, Eric Clapton stayed in the U.S. and went on tour with Delaney & Bonnie. He formed a new band, Derek and the Dominos, with Bobby Whitlock (kbds), Carl Reidl (b), and Jim Gordon (ds), whom he met here. Their debut album, "My Cousin Leila," which featured Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, reached No. 16 on the U.S. album charts and earned a gold disc. However, due to various problems, the band's activities ended after just over a year, and now a rare live archive of the band is finally available! The tour started on June 14, 1970 in London with the release of their debut album, and continued for 71 shows from England to France to the U.S. until December 6, 1970 in Serdang, New York, the band's first and last tour. The October 24 concert at the Fillmore East, a prestigious concert hall in New York City, was recorded and broadcast as a special program on WNEW-FM, a local FM station specializing in rock music.The discovery of the broadcast sub-master of the show has allowed for its remastering and release in the best possible sound quality at this time. The setlist for the day was 12 songs, including encores, so this live album is a complete recording of the day's live performance, and is a rare archive of the complete Derek and the Dominos concert experience. Although the sound quality is not as good as that of "In Concert" released in 1973, it is still an excellent record that conveys the band's passionate live performance. The four songs that cannot be heard on "In Concert" can be heard on this live archive, making it an extremely valuable archive as a live chronicle of Eric Clapton's history as a musician, even though it was short-lived!
