It is no exaggeration to say that these works have sparked a revolution in the world of the harmonica.\nHaruki Minno (From the booklet)\n\nOn this album, Haruki Minno’s “Five Faded Photographs,” written specifically for Yuzuru Sakimoto, and Toots Thielemans’ classic “Blue Zet” are brought to life through Sakimoto’s distinctive harmonica playing, characterized by a sense of peace, tranquility, and nostalgia.\n\n\u003cperformer profile\u003e\n● Yuzuru Sakimoto (Harmonica)\nStudied under Shuuro Sato. Held his first recital in Tokyo in 1967. In 1970, he enrolled at the Trossingen Municipal Conservatory in West Germany, where he studied under Helmut Herold. In 1971, he studied under Tommy Riley in London. He garnered attention by winning second place in the soloist category at the 13th World Harmonica Competition. In 1973, he held a homecoming recital featuring an all-original harmonica program. In 1978, he performed Villa-Lobos’s Harmonica Concerto with the NHK Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Hiroyuki Iwaki during a regular concert series, and has since performed with major orchestras throughout Japan. He has performed in various countries, including the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom. His recitals feature varied and ambitious programs. In 1997, he held a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of his performing career, featuring guest artists Mie Mikki on accordion, Miko Miyake on harp, Haruna Miyake on piano, and Haruki Mino. Furthermore, he holds annual concerts featuring Yuzuru Sakimoto and his colleagues, and has been conducting summer harmonica seminars for over 20 years. In 2007, he celebrated the 40th anniversary of his performing career.\nHe has released numerous albums on Camerata, including solo works and collaborations with Haruki Minno, Miko Miyake, and others.
