DERRHOOF has been active since the 90's, and has not had many member changes since then, and has remained stable in delivering eccentric US indie music. The rhythm team of GREG SAUNIER and SATOMI MATSUZAKI, both of whom have been with the band since the beginning, has only grown more polished with each passing year! The 18th and latest album "ACTUALLY, YOU CAN" is an ambitious work that combines technical and groove-oriented aspects. The band is currently in the process of releasing its first album in 2020.SATOMI MATSUZAKI's "I want to contain the energy of live performance" and the band's desire to "make baroque music into a thing" were the themes for the project, which was carried out with each of their desires, and they have successfully materialized! The lead song "DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS" is a dead heat of twisted guitar phrases and GREG SAUNIER's perverted drumming, which is typical of a live band. And the vocal work of SATOMI MATSUZAKI, who sings with more pop than usual, completely swallows the vividness of baroque music! The songwriting is cute and cool, and the songwriting is very unique, somewhere between the veteran and young bands! The stylish music video (directed by labelmate JESS JOY, who has also just released his latest work) and the mastering supervised by GREG SAUNIER are also part of the coloring of this album. DERRHOOF is still sharp as a representative of US indie as a signboard of the prestigious JOYFUL NOISE. ....!!!
