Having moved from Brazil to London in the early 2000s and quickly becoming one of the city’s most sought-after musicians, Moises has shared the stage and studio with best-selling artists such as Nile Rodgers, Janelle Monáe, Emily Sunday, Gregory Porter, and Omar, and has been involved in their songwriting.\nHe says the project began when the late drummer Mamão, during a 2022 tour with Brazilian crossover legend Azimuth, encouraged him to reconnect with his roots. The album title is reportedly taken from his mother’s name.\nThe lead single and album opener, “Boa Viagem,” is a cheerful, carnival-esque dancefloor jazz track. \"Brazilian Spirit,\" which directly calls upon a higher power, is a truly celestial jazz phenomenon, highlighted by the transcendent trumpet playing of Grammy-nominated Theo Croker. \"Saudade\" is a superb mid-tempo soul track featuring Brazilian master Arthur Verocai. His signature string arrangements envelop the divine vocals of Linda Dawn, who is currently garnering attention in London.\nMoisés has been strongly influenced not only by the aforementioned Azimuth, but also by Aíato Moreira and Haul de Souza, as well as North American electric bass giants such as George Duke, Jaco Pastorius, and Stanley Clarke. In addition, he has successfully fused the diverse Brazilian rhythms he played as a teenager—such as batucada, maracatu, baion, samba, and frevo—with his own unique style, drawing on his experience performing in Brazilian churches where he first honed his skills as a musician.
