Because the lyrics are deliberately sung in a way that’s easy to understand, the album carries a pop sensibility and a touch of the surreal that evokes a strange sense of familiarity among middle-aged listeners living in the present day.\nYes, it’s a Japanese soul album with quite a distinctive edge to be placed on a SOUL shelf, but here lies the present state of SOUL MUSIC that EMILAND continues to explore.\nWhat exactly is SOUL? We want to express it not just on the surface or through music theory, but from a much deeper, core level.\n...Well, I’ve been giving a rather serious and formal explanation up to this point, but just take a look at the song titles on this album.\n“Troublemaker,” “Empty-Handed,” “Pretty Forceful,” “Not Mad,” “Can’t-Stop Sweets,” “Escape Route,” “No Motivation”....\nYep, it’s an album full of “lovely, crazy people.” Please listen to it with a smile.
