The first release, *Live Classics*, is a controversial album said to have been released due to business issues, but it is a collection of rare live tracks recorded between 1977 and 1983. Only “Major Barbra” is a studio outtake from the *Fly! Aerosmith* sessions recorded in New York between 1973 and 1974. In contrast, the follow-up, *Live Classics II*, was released with the band’s official approval. It centers on their New Year’s Eve 1984 concert in their hometown of Boston and also includes “Draw the Line” from their 1978 appearance at California Jam 2, as well as “Speak Up!” from their March 1986 concert in Worcester, Massachusetts.
