4988031801529
Alfred Brendel - Mozart : The Piano Concertos Die Klavierkonzerte Les 23 Concertos Pourpiano - Japan 10 CD Box Set Limited Edition

Credits:

Alfred Brendel

＜Tower Records Shibuya 30th Anniversary Commemorative Edition" "In Memory of Brendel" "Special 10-CD set price

All of Mozart's piano concertos (Nos. 5-27) recorded with Marriner for PHILIPS between 1970 and 1984 are included. The 44-page commentary includes Brendel's own writings and new music commentary, as well as a new preface commentary by pianist Tomoki Sakata!

As a memorial project for Alfred Brendel (1931-2025), who passed away in June 2025 at the age of 94, Tower Records will reissue three of his masterpieces from the many recordings he made with the former PHILIPS label, which have become both his representative recordings and his first choice of music itself. The latest reissue is a limited edition. All of them are important albums in terms of recording history, and are filled with the essence of Brendel's music. Since these albums have not been available in the market for a while, especially after Brendel's retirement, there have been many requests to reissue them on domestic vinyl. Since it has been a long time since the last domestic release, please take note of the new commentaries, including the new preface to each recording. The price of this reissue is much lower than the price of the original Japanese edition. Please note that the 3-disc set is in a multi-case and the 10-disc box set is in a clamshell box (box). The jacket photos are the same as the original design. We hope you will enjoy Brendel's wonderful performances in this latest reissue.

The complete Mozart piano concertos were recorded over a period of 15 years from 1970 to 1984. However, it is believed that Brendel recorded the concertos from No. 5 onward, based on the view that the hands of someone other than Mozart were involved in the first four. In addition to the numbered piano concertos, a total of 25 concertos, including two concert rondos, are included, but for No. 7 for three pianos and orchestra, Mozart's own arrangement for two pianos with Imogen Cooper, a pupil of Brendel, is used.As for the conductor and orchestra, Marriner & ASMF are consistently backed by Marriner, and it can be said that Marriner's careful performance enhances Brendel's musicality even more. When released as a complete set, this disc is a masterpiece among masterpieces, winning the Gramophone Award as well. The stability of the performance throughout the entire work is outstanding among the complete works by other performers, and is the first recommendation for listeners who are new to the complete works. The Brendel disc is the standard to which heavy listeners who have been exposed to many performances can always return. It is unfortunate that these recordings were made over a long period of time, straddling the analog and digital eras, and that there have been no reissues in high sound quality, but the excellent recordings made by the PHILIPS label at that time minimize the differences in sound quality of each piece, which is an important factor when viewing these recordings. However, the excellent PHILIPS label recordings of the time minimize the differences in sound quality. The same is true for the CD version, of course, and for this reissue, the analog recordings are based on the conventional CD masters, in order to ensure consistency with the digital recordings.

(1/2)
