[Kemp Masterpieces 1000] Wilhelm Kemp (1895-1991) was a German pianist who excelled at classical and romantic repertoire such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Bach. This is a dream combination of Beethoven's complete works planned to commemorate the bicentennial of Beethoven's birth in 1970. Menuhin, who was in his mid-50s and at the peak of his powers at the time, and Kemp, who was just beginning to reach his old age, crystallized their mutual passion for Beethoven in this superb recording.
