Once again, he performs with Martina Pastuska, who leads the Polish period instrument orchestra {oh!} Orkestra, pairing this recording with Symphony No. 29 from their ongoing complete Mozart symphony series. Feliks Janiewicz was a Polish violinist and composer of Mozart’s generation. He formed close friendships with Haydn and Mozart in Vienna, and the fact that Mozart dedicated his “Andante for Violin and Orchestra, K. 470” to him makes this a particularly fitting pairing. The five surviving violin concertos have rarely been performed; in particular, No. 5, composed in Paris around 1803–1807, is a work that, while adhering to the Classical style, evokes a Polish-style melancholy and hints at the dawn of Romanticism.\nBorn in 1984, the Armenian-French violinist Shushan Shiranosian, a student of Tibor Varga and Zakhar Bron, studied early music performance with Reinhard Goebel and has become one of the stars of the Baroque music world.
