In 2019, with a slightly different lineup, they toured Japan and generated a great deal of buzz. On this album, they perform works by the Polish composer Franciszek Ressel—a student of Haydn—as well as pieces by Schumann and Chopin with such expressive richness that it’s hard to believe they’re a period instrument ensemble.
