They have recorded more than 90 albums, primarily for Hyperion, and have been frequently nominated for and won the British Gramophone Awards and BBC Music Magazine Awards; in 2021, they won the Gramophone Award in the Contemporary Music category for their collection of works by John Piccard.\n\nThis album features chamber music in various formations by Ferdinand Ries, known as a student, colleague, and friend of Beethoven. From the vast body of chamber music Ries composed throughout his life, this album features the Piano Trio (No. 4), the “Grand Sextet” for piano and string quintet (which incorporates an Irish melody known as “The Last Rose of Summer” in the second movement), the “Introduction and Russian Dance” for cello and piano; and the “Sextet,” a rare arrangement featuring a piano-and-harp duo (or two pianos) accompanied by clarinet, bassoon, horn, and double bass (or violin, viola, and cello)—all of which were popular at the time. Although his reputation as a composer is still developing, this album offers an excellent opportunity to discover the legacy of Rees, who left behind some truly captivating music.\nOnce again, top-tier soloists—including Stephanie Gonley (vn), Jonathan Stone (vn), Lawrence Power (va), Adrian Brendel (vc), Graham Mitchell (db), Simon Crawford-Phillips (piano), and Richard Watkins (horn)—all of whom are also active as first-rate soloists—have come together once again to fully showcase their virtuosity.\nTokyo M Plus\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Hyperion","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53374660051233,"sku":"4947182116753","price":2829.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4947182116753.jpg?v=1787632239","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4947182116753","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
