This intriguing series specializes in Greek music that emerged after independence in 1821, discovering and rediscovering works that have rarely been performed or outstanding pieces unknown outside Greece, and introducing them to the world.\nThe first installment of the series features works by three Greek composers. Yannis Papaioannou (1910–1989), who lived through the 20th century, composed in a wide variety of styles and released many works written for quite unusual instrumental combinations. Yannis Konstantinidis (1903–1984), who sought to combine elements of Impressionist music with Greece’s folk heritage (particularly ancient rhythms and modes).
