The work features Silvestri’s poetry as its main text, along with words left in the diary of Silvestri’s wife, Julie (Julia Lawrence Silvestri), who passed away prematurely in 2005, as well as Whittaker’s own texts. It premiered in February 2019 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, conducted by the composer himself.\nComprising 12 pieces written for a four-part mixed choir (SATB), solo cello, and piano, the work draws on texts by Silvestri that speak of love, loss, healing, new beginnings, and life.
